Summer. A salty summer.

Daily writing prompt
What is your favorite season of year? Why?

I might be a summer child… Born in July, raised in Greece, spent endless summers and weekends (even when it was not summer) on a specific island and walked on the beach no matter the weather conditions… However, fun fact for you, I was not always a big fan of summer. Some years ago, and for a little while, I was more of an autumn fan. You might be able to understand. Autumn is the season when one can be cozy inside. The colours are warm and welcoming. Nature is at its best with so many shades of colours and everything is about spices, good coffee and beverages and celebrations.

Autumn. Yes. A good season, a beautiful season. But…. as of late, I find myself waiting for summer to arrive. Sure, I get the most weeks off during that time of the year from work and I can do whatever I want and enjoy the bright days…. But it’s not just that.

Summer, for me, means going back home. It means I get to see friends and family. It means I get to be at beautiful beaches around the island, cruise around islands if I can. It means sunny days, warm days (sometimes too hot and that’s one thing I don’t like). It means good food, Greek food that is, cold coffee on the beach or at the local cafe of my preference downtown. It means staying up late, listening to the waves or going out at a nice restaurant with good music and celebrating life, or my birthday.

And most importantly, summer means remembering. I have amazing childhood memories from good old summer times. With a bit of luck and some good organization, I can gather some friends and look back on those days.

Which is your favourite season? Do tell!
