I’ve given a lot of thoughts on what answer this question can have… Even as I write this, I can’t say that my answer is the right one. I, definitely, have made some tought decisions in the past that either lead me down a good road or were the complete opposite of what I wanted.
Life is full of tough choices, afterall. Or so they say.
I do not want to take you that far back into my life and recall decisions of the past that might as well stay forgotten for the moment… I would rather pick one of the latest whatever years. It is easier and, trust me, one of the touchest decisions I had to make at that moment.
Around the end of 2017, I moved back to Greece. There were a couple of reasons behind it, such as the renovation of an apartment that would keep us busy, some other personal matters, and the lack of a job in Germany for me. No, I do not regret going back. As a matter of fact, I welcomed the idea with open arms, as weird as that sounds. I left a lot behind, but clever me, I took along the most important things to make my life there enjoyable and fun.
Born and raised in Greece, I practically returned home after some good years living abroad. I surely enjoyed being back, enjoying the sunny days of Greece (all year around), going out to the familiar places with my friends whom I had not seen in years…. The plan, however, was something like this: Go to Greece, spend a month or two there, return to Germany… Did it go like this? Nope.
Eventually, as the days ticked by and so did the months, I decided to stay there for a bit longer and that ”bit longer” happened to be a year… I found a job, then another, dated some guys, enjoyed my independce and the time away from my parents, the company of my dog, spoiled him the most and had fun!
But let’s skip forward to 2019…. It was around September, maybe August, when I talked with my mother about the possibility of returning back to Germany… Just like before, there were a couple of reasons for deciding on that… I won’t mention them here, but you know what I mean…
Leaving my home country, my friends, the good life (as much as good that was) and the sunny weather was one of the hardest decisions I had to make. At least so far, in my life… I do not regret it. Not yet. But I really miss what I had there, and most of all, my friends.
What about you? Which was one of the hardest decisions you had to make?
